Why am I standing for Council?
I want to bring practical, honest leadership that focuses on our community’s real needs. My priorities are jobs for locals, affordable housing, and making sure council works in partnership with the people it serves.
What are my top priorities if elected?
My focus is on improving public transport, waste and recycling services, and securing smart, local solutions for water supply. I also want to connect local industry, business, and education so we can create year-round economic activity and training pathways for our young people.
What makes me the right person for the role?
I have over 40 years of experience in business and hospitality, working hands-on with people every day. I’m known for being practical, collaborative, and community-focused. I know how to bring people together to solve complex problems and get results.
What’s the biggest challenge facing Waitaki?
Water. The government’s reform agenda risks taking control of our water out of local hands. But rather than see this as a threat, I see it as an opportunity — an opportunity for Waitaki to build capability, win contracts, and create jobs that stay in our district.
How will I support local business?
I want Council procurement to favour local providers wherever possible. Instead of outsourcing we should be engaging the talented people and businesses already here in Waitaki. That keeps money circulating in our local economy.
How do I see Waitaki’s future?
A resilient, connected district where people want to stay, raise families, and grow businesses. By investing in infrastructure, supporting local industries, and creating opportunities for young people, we can make Waitaki a place we’re all proud to call home.
